Volunteer Opportunities

The museum is looking for generous, cheerful people willing to donate their time and talents to the McAllen International Museum, one of our communitys major assets.

The Gift Shop needs people to work 21/2 hour shifts Tuesday-Friday, and 3-hour shifts on weekends. You will work with a team and deal with school children during the week. Most weekend customers are families. The Gift Shop is run by the MIM Guild.

The Docent Council needs men and women of all ages and backgrounds to guide elementary school groups through the exhibits. These docents are required to work two 21/2 hour shifts per month from October through April and attend an exhibit orientation the first Monday of each month. There will be a 3-day training session in September.

MIM ... Hands-On! volunteers travel to area schools with the mobile exhibits or work on projects at the museum.

Clerical workers help with occasional mailings, researchers and archivists work with the curator.

It's not all work and no play! During the year the Guild schedules coffee mornings which combine business with interesting programs, munchies and convivial company.
